Art : Banksy

 Hello everyone, 

In this art class students discussed the famous street artist Banksy. We had a look at various works of art and spoke about how they could be interpreted differently. They shared some excellent ideas about social media, attitudes towards art and how Banksy critiques society. 




I also shared with students the painting that Banksy donated to a hospital in Southampton, to show his support for the NHS and doctors and nurses efforts during the pandemic. We spoke about the importance of art during difficult times and what the symbols we could identify in the painting. 



We then discussed these two videos, one about the famous shreddng of the Girl with Ballon at Sotheby´s auction house in London and another about Banksy´s Dismaland concept, check them out here:

Physical Education : The Eatwell Plate

 Hello everyone,  Students in Phyiscal Education have been studying diet and healthy eating, so I thought I would introduce them to the Eatwell Plate. This plate is a visual aid to help us understand how much from each food group we should have in our diet.  We used an interactive resource from Food Standards Scotland   to complete our own Eatwell Plate buy adding each item of food to the relevant section. Students then completed their own Eatwell Plate on the worksheet below:  They drew images of the food items we saw during the interactive activity and wrote down the names of fruit and vegetables, carbohydrates, protein, fats and dairy products.  In the next class we completed a quiz about the Eatwell plate to test their understanding, how many answers do you know?  Check out the answers here ! Art : artist interviews

 Hello everyone,  In art class students have been preparing a series of questions for their artist interviews, posing as famous figures such as Frida Khalo, Pablo Picasso, Leonardo da Vinci and Georgia O'Keeffe. At home, they had to research their artist and come to class ready to tell everyone all about themselves as their artist persona!  Some students dressed up and really got into character. The questions and answers taught us all a lot about each artist, from their most famous works, their families, where we can see their art today and where they lived. This class allowed students to practice saying dates in English, as well as using both present and past tenses.  What famous artist would you want to talk about?  Alice
