Citizenship : Women's suffrage

 Hello everyone,

In Citizenship class we have been discussing the topic of equality, with a focus on women's rights. In this class, we discussed the fight for women's suffrage and the legacy that figures such as Emmeline Pankhurst and Emily Davidson have had on the landscape of women's rights.

In this presentation, we looked at what suffrage means, a map of women's suffrage around the world and the difference between the Suffragists and Suffragettes. We watched a video about the tactics the suffragettes used in their fight for the vote and answered some questions on the video. We also discussed whether their violence was justified or not and the impact their sacrifice has had on women around the world.

Check out the video ‘The most notorious act of protest for women’s suffrage' and the presentation here:

Are you surprised by the violence that the Suffragettes used?
